Today I think, because it is “Pi Day”, I will be educational … or at least as educational as is in my ability.

Now remember, at least I think that I have said this before, my education was in Political Science, International Relations, and Spanish History/Literature. I avoided math as much as I could, because I flat, plain, and simple **hated** it while in school. For that matter, I still do. I’m sure I could have learned it if I’d applied myself. I just didn’t want to. Period. Roy was a DJ for 22 years. He hated math too. Whenever my kids needed help in math when they were in school, they knew to not ask either Roy or me but to go to their father, my ex-husband, who is an engineer. They knew that both Roy and I would tell them that was their best option. God bless those people who love math. As you can see, we are not of that group. To many, this seems like a normal thing, because many people hated math in school except for the few, but we’ll put it in the following context.

My older sister majored in Math in college. She taught high school math and calculus for many **MANY** years. She was the high school’s math department chair. She is now a high school principal. My mother was a teacher while I grew up. My oldest son is a mathematical wizard. I’m very proud of what they all can do. I’m also proud of what I do, but we all couldn’t be much more different in what we enjoy.

So, in deference to my sister and her mathematical abilities (as well as my oldest son, Logan) … and my sister’s patience in trying to teach me math when we were younger … and my stubborn refusal to care anything about it … I offer this:

*~*~*

It is Pi Day. I cannot say that I remembered the formula for it, but I **DID **remember that it was 3.14 plus some … so I “googled” it. (Yeah, I cheated … but I’m not in school any more so it’s ok. Right, Mom? Right? You’d have killed us if we’d cheated when in school. Oh hell … at 84 years old, you’d **still** kill us if you thought we were cheating in some manner.) Anyway, here’s everyone’s “lesson” for the day:

*~*~*

Pi (π)

The number π is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, and is approximately equal to 3.14159 … (and on and on and on).

(I knew it went on further than 3.14. I just didn’t know how much.)

*~*~*

So … with that … that’s my lesson for today. I have now scheduled this blogpost to “send out” on 3.14 at 1:59 am. (I may not know mathematics, but I’m pretty good at figuring out how to make “maximum impact” with scheduling.)

Carry on, all, and enjoy a piece of pie on “Pi Day”.

I think an apple pie is in store for Roy and me tonight.

🙂
